Benefits of Membership

IPSANZ has been actively committed to advancing the field of intellectual property since our incorporation in 1987.  We focus on providing high quality resources and fostering professional development for our members.

Expanding your network and advancing your education by attending IPSANZ events.

The Society hosts regular seminars, dinner meetings, and social gatherings where intellectual property law developments are presented and discussed. These events provide excellent opportunities to meet and network with other IPSANZ members and their guests, including distinguished national and international guest speakers and IP experts, in a relaxed and informal setting.

Our events take place in person throughout Australia and New Zealand to give as many members as possible the opportunity to attend in-person.  We also live-stream our seminars when possible, enabling members from all locations to attend presentations virtually.

IPSANZ members enjoy discounted registration to all IPSANZ events.

Our highly regarded quarterly journal, Intellectual Property Forum, offers a wealth of knowledge and insight into the field of IP law.

IPSANZ members receive Intellectual Property Forum digitally four times a year and can choose to also receive a hard copy for no additional cost.  Members can also access digital copies of all issues dating back to September 2017 online at any time via the Members Only section of our website.

Making great connections at our IPSANZ Annual Conferences.

This year IPSANZ is hosting our 37th Annual Conference amid the incredible scenery of Queenstown, New Zealand.  Our conference will feature an impressive lineup of speakers, interactive sessions, and discussions designed to address the latest trends and challenges in the IP landscape.  Members of IPSANZ can register at a heavily discounted rate.

As well as educational opportunities, attending our conference provides members with a not-to-be-missed chance to interact with professional colleagues outside the boundaries of the office walls or the Zoom room.

Challenging yourself and developing your skills by joining our competitions.

Our annual IPSANZ John Mclaren Emmerson QC Essay Prize encourages participants to explore and analyse a topic of their choice in the field of intellectual property law, recognising winners for their depth of research, quality of analysis, and contribution to the intellectual property law community.

Prize winners are announced and presented at our annual conference, and the winning entry will be published in Intellectual Property Forum. The Essay Prize is an excellent opportunity for IP professionals to showcase their expertise in their chosen topics.

The opportunity to make your mark on the field.

IPSANZ membership offers an opportunity to step beyond the boundaries of the office and the daily workload and engage in the wider community of intellectual property professionals.

Members at the beginning of their careers have the opportunity to join mentoring programs when offered, and members with expertise in the field are valued as mentors in these programs.  Our membership includes a number of pre-eminent IP experts who give generously of their time and knowledge as guest speakers, mentors, or both.

Members with expertise in relevant or topical subjects are encouraged to contact their local committee if they are interested in presenting a seminar for IPSANZ;

Members who choose to serve on IPSANZ local committees also have the unique opportunity to actively guide and influence the discussions taking place across the IP field, through choosing presentation topics and developing state-level programs to benefit our members.

 


Becoming a member

Our membership year runs from 1 July to 30 June of the following year, in parallel with the financial year.  You can join us at any time of year by filling out the forms at the top of this page.

Membership intake for the upcoming financial year usually opens in late May.  We will announce this through our mailing list, which you can join by filling in the form below.
