FORTHCOMING MEETINGS: Auckland and Wellington, NEW ZEALAND
IP & GENETIC RESOURCES
Doug Calhoun is a vastly experienced registered patent attorney and
solicitor who advised clients and informed Government on the Intellectual
Property/Genetic Resources interface.
Doug will discuss the recent challenges to the common assumption by IP practitioners that traditional knowledge and genetic resources are merely a background to the function of the patent system. Doug will outline the various threads of international and New Zealand responses to these challenges. This talk will help to frame the longstanding Wai 262 claim (the report should soon be published) in an international context.
